Payment gateway overview
Volet.com lets you accept payments from customers worldwide using custodial or non-custodial payment flows.
With custodial payments, funds are credited to your Volet.com account and can be received in fiat, stablecoins, or cryptocurrency.
With non-custodial payments, funds are transferred directly on-chain to your own wallet through smart contracts.
Merchants can choose between custodial and non-custodial payment flows depending on their regulatory, operational, and custody requirements.
Customers can pay:
- With cryptocurrency directly from an external crypto wallet.
- From their Volet.com account balance funded via card, bank transfer, or cryptocurrency.
Volet.com does not provide traditional card acquiring (direct Visa/Mastercard payments on your website).
Customers can still pay with fiat funds, but they first need to fund their Volet.com account using a card, bank transfer, or cryptocurrency, and then make the payment from their account balance.
See Top up your Volet.com account for available funding methods.
Custodial payments
With custodial payments, customer funds are processed through Volet.com and settled to your Volet.com account.
Customers can pay:
- From their Volet.com account balance (E-wallet payments).
- With cryptocurrency from external wallets (Custodial crypto payments).
Merchants can settle funds in fiat, stablecoins, or cryptocurrency and withdraw them using bank transfers, cards, or crypto withdrawals.
For supported stablecoins, Volet.com uses unified balances across supported networks.
For example, you can receive USDT payments on Ethereum and later withdraw the same balance through Tron or another supported network without using a separate bridge.
This reduces operational complexity, bridge risk, and additional network fees.
Before you start
- To use custodial payment solutions, you need a verified Volet.com account. See Business verification or Personal verification. Compare account types: Business vs Personal.
- After verification, create a payment gateway in the Payment Tools section of your dashboard.
- New custodial payment gateways require a compliance review before activation. Approval is typically completed within a few hours.
How it works
- Create and configure a payment gateway in your Volet.com account.
- Integrate Hosted Checkout, a CMS plugin, or the API into your website.
- Customers pay from their Volet.com account balance or with cryptocurrency.
- After the payment is completed, funds are credited to your Volet.com account.
- Funds can be automatically converted into your preferred settlement currency, where available.

Settlement is made to your Volet.com account. Funds become available immediately after the payment is completed.
Volet.com does not apply rolling reserves to completed payments. Unlike traditional card acquiring, these payment methods do not create card-network chargebacks for the merchant.
Integration options
- Hosted Checkout page. Customers are redirected to a secure Volet.com checkout page where they choose an available payment method and complete the payment.
- CMS plugins. Ready-made integrations for WooCommerce, OpenCart, and other supported platforms that use the Hosted Checkout page and require little to no development effort.
- API integration. You handle the checkout page yourself and use the Volet.com API to create payment requests and track payment status.

Settlement and withdrawals
Funds received through custodial payments are credited to your Volet.com account.
In this documentation, settlement means where and in which currency the merchant receives the completed payment.
For custodial payments, settlement means crediting funds to the merchant's Volet.com account. For non-custodial payments, settlement means direct on-chain delivery to the merchant's own wallet.
Settlement does not always mean a bank withdrawal. After funds are settled, the merchant can keep, exchange, or withdraw them using available Volet.com services.
You can then:
- Withdraw to a bank account via SWIFT, local bank transfers, FPS, CIPS, and other supported methods.
- Withdraw to a debit or credit card.
- Withdraw cryptocurrency to an external wallet.
- Transfer funds to other Volet.com users.
- Exchange between supported fiat currencies, stablecoins, and cryptocurrencies.
See Withdraw or send funds for available withdrawal methods.
Fees
Processing fees start at 0.25% for stablecoin payments. No setup fees, no monthly fees.
You can choose whether the processing fee is paid by you or added to the customer's payment amount.
Withdrawal fees depend on the payment method used.

Non-custodial payments
With non-custodial payments, customers pay directly on-chain through smart contracts. Funds are transferred directly by the smart contract and are not held by Volet.com.
Neither the merchant nor the customer needs a Volet.com account to use non-custodial payments.
This model is suitable for projects that want to receive payments directly to their own wallets without using custodial settlement.
How it works
- Add a payment form to your website or application and connect the customer's wallet using WalletConnect or another compatible wallet connection method.
- Integrate the provided smart contract into your application or website.
- Customers pay directly from their crypto wallets.
- Funds are transferred directly on-chain to your wallet.
- The smart contract transfers funds directly to your wallet.
- Your application receives the blockchain transaction ID and tracks the payment status.

AI agent payments
Non-custodial payments are particularly suitable for autonomous AI agents and on-chain applications.
Because no custodial account, manual withdrawal process, or intermediary fund management is required, payments can be initiated and settled programmatically.
This makes non-custodial payments well suited for machine-to-machine transactions, autonomous commerce, and agentic payment flows.
